How to measure a roof online

Choose your roof image
Search for a property and capture satellite imagery, or upload a top-down roof photo. For uploaded images, set the scale against a distance you know.

Trace, classify, and set pitch
Outline each roof facet. Label eaves, ridges, hips, valleys, rakes, and flashing, then assign the pitch for each facet to calculate its sloped area.

Check the drawing and 3D preview, finish any missing inputs, and save. Download your PDF report and a backup of the editable measurement.

Get the inputs right
This is an interactive measurement tool: you trace the roof and supply its pitch. An overhead image alone does not establish pitch. Image resolution, scale, perspective, and your tracing affect the result. Check critical dimensions on site before ordering materials.

Is the roof measurement tool free without signing in?
Yes. You can start a measurement, edit roof facets and edge types, assign pitches, preview the roof in 3D, save drafts on this device, and generate PDF roof reports without creating an account.
How do I measure a roof from an address?
Enter the property address, select the matching location in the satellite picker, and frame the roof. Capture the imagery, trace each roof facet, classify its edges, and enter the pitch. Satellite captures include a ground scale calculated from the map position and zoom.
Can I upload a drone photo or a top-down roof image?
Yes. Upload a clear overhead image and calibrate its scale using a known real-world distance. Perspective, lens distortion, image quality, tracing, and pitch inputs affect the measurements. Verify important dimensions on site before ordering materials.
What is included in the roof measurement PDF?
Completed drawings produce a report with roof diagrams, pitch-adjusted areas, facet pitches, and classified edge lengths such as eaves, ridges, hips, valleys, and rakes. Manually entered quantities can be downloaded as a summary PDF. Save your measurement, then select Download roof report PDF in your draft list.
Where are my roof measurements saved?
Public-tool drafts and uploaded images are saved in this browser on this device when you press Save. They are not added to a CRM workspace. Download a measurement backup to reopen it later or on another device. Clearing browser data can remove your drafts. Address searches and satellite captures use the mapping provider.
Can I use the tool on my phone?
You can browse the page and enter measurements manually on mobile. Roof tracing needs a desktop or laptop with a larger screen and a mouse or trackpad. The tool explains this when you open the drawing editor on a phone.
